For the past 6 years, WBEZ’s Worldview has sponsored the “Off-Air Event” known as the Global Activism Expo in cooperation with the UIC Social Justice Initiative. This year, it is scheduled for Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 12:00pm to 6:00pm at the UIC Forum. There will be over 90 local activist/not-for-profit organizations with displays, information, fair-trade gifts, and suggestions on how you might get involved. Topics can be explored more in-depth with break-out sessions and discussions hosted all day. Add great food and music to boot, and you’ve got your Saturday planned for the whole family. Seriously, check it out. Our family went last year and can’t wait to do it again. Let us know, if you’re interested in meeting up as an “Act Out Now” group at the event. Maybe we can coordinate lunch and conversation. Cheers.
The Expo is an opportunity for people to see their community and their world as a caring, thoughtful, and generous place. Join us as we make a difference with our love, respect, and compassion.
