People are the heart of Erie. At the heart of their organization are the people and families within Erie and in those communities they serve; it’s because of that that they have withstood the test of time. The mission of Erie is to promote a just and inclusive society by strengthening low-income, primarily Latino families through skill-building, access to critical resources, advocacy and collaborative action. The core values that guide their mission include affirming the dignity and capacity of all persons to reach their fullest potential, strengthening the voice of the disenfranchised, embodying a spirit of service and respect, and promoting social change by forging creative solutions.

Erie House has been working hard to help immigrants in Chicago for the past 145 years. There programs are very well respected and comprehensive, and there is plenty of opportunity for one to get involved.

See their volunteer page for a partial list of the volunteer opportunities available across their multiple Chicago sites, and contact them directly for more information.
